Explorer Journal Planning Sheet

You may wish to print out this sheet to help you plan the journal.

Your explorer journal should contain the following:

  1. An authentic looking cover. You may use colored construction paper, or brown paper bags.
  2. At least five entries that are written in the 1st person. (that means you must write it from the point of view of the explorer using “I”) These can be made on 8 ½” X 11” paper. They can be handwritten or typed.
  3. Use the table below to help you organize your data.  You may want to print this out.
  4. Each entry should be dated at the top, detailed, and incorporate the research that you have done.

 

Early Entries

(beginning of the journey)

Include: dates, where you are leaving from, what you are seeking, challenges ahead, and your feelings.

Middle Entries

(during the sea voyage)

Include: dates, events at sea, moral of the crew, and your feelings.

Ending Entries

(end of journey, return trip, or reflection on the journey)

Include: dates, discoveries. Did you find what you sought? Will your discoveries change the world?
