Navigation Tool Sheet

Click here to see how your navigation tool will be evaluated.

Explorers in the 15th and 16th centuries did not have radar, global positioning, radios, or even accurate maps to help them navigate these uncharted waters. However they did have some navigational tools. Your group will make at least one of these tools to include in your chest. Your group will also write a brief description of the tool on an index card. This can used during the presentation.

Before making your navigational tool, read about navigation tools before you start this step at the sites below. http://www.mariner.org/educationalad/ageofex/navmethods.php

Your group should choose one of these navigational tools by following the directions on these links.  You may want to print out the directions. All supplies that you will need will be in the classroom. If you have time at the end you may wish to create a second tool.
